Major expansion in Welsh pellet production
Clifford Jones Timber of Ruthin is to invest £2.5M in a new wood pellet production facility. The site will produce up to 30,000 tonnes of pellets per year.

CBI raises Wales eco-policy concerns
Environmental policies in Wales should be co-ordinated with the rest of the UK or business will suffer, the CBI has warned.

The employers’ body warned that additional regulatory burdens on businesses in Wales would hamper their competitiveness and slow economic growth.

Resource Efficiency Network
The Resource Efficiency Network is a Knowledge Transfer Network, a service to UK industry and commerce provided through the DTI Technology Programme. The Network aims to improve use of materials and energy, encourage the use of industrial wastes as a source of chemicals, fuels and other valuable materials and promote recovery and processing of waste from one site, for use as a resource elsewhere.

As part of the free membership, members have access to a wide range of services on the web portal. Although primarily aimed at waste and recycling, opportunities for renewables firms also exist, such as this post on the forums:

Carbon Trust drives by-product initiative
Meat by-products may power the factories of the future. That is the belief of Carbon Trust Enterprises and Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE), which have announced a joint venture that will turn bio-waste into renewable energy.

Low uptake for revised LCBP
